5 Ways to Maintain Your Beauty Routine While Traveling

While traveling has plenty of upsides and life-long benefits, there are still some negatives — after all, it is a well-known fact that when you are globetrotting your daily organization and structure can easily fall to the wayside, throwing everything entirely out of whack.

To help reduce the risk of this happening to you the next time you leave your home, here are five ways to maintain your beauty routine while traveling.

1. Be realistic with your expectations.

First and foremost, you need to get real with yourself about how much time and energy you are willing to spend on your beauty routine while on the road. Depending on the time (and length) of the trip you are taking, you may or may not want to be a little more relaxed with your day-to-day routine.

Consider how much space you have in your luggage and remind yourself over again that you don’t need to take every one of your beauty tools with you. Instead, look for products and tools that work for multiple purposes and that you know you will honestly use. Additionally, many brands now offer travel-size versions of their most popular products which can be an excellent way for you to have your favorite products and still fit airplane carry-on regulations.

2. Opt for semi-permanent options.

In addition to the products that you are bringing with you on the trip, you should also consider upgrading your beauty appointments to involve semi-permanent options or more long-lasting treatments. For example, instead of having to worry about chipped nails when traveling, look to get gel nails in Doha (or wherever you are currently based) as they will last a lot longer.

Other semi-permanent options that frequent travelers like to take advantage of are: lash extensions, semi-permanent eyeliner, eyelash tinting, microblading, and waxing.

3. Stick to your appointment schedule.

You may have a favorite stylist back home, but don’t delay treatments. Maintain as many of your regular scheduled appointments as possible.

Luckily, many of the popular beauty and wellness trends are global movements which means you are likely to find somewhere that can fulfill your needs — even on the other side of the world.

For example, if you are usually strict about getting your curly hair cut every six weeks and you happen to be traveling during that time, then look ahead for the best hair salon for curly hair where you are traveling. Just make sure to do your research, read reviews by previous customers, and then trust that they know what they are doing!

4. Indulge in local beauty customs and traditions.

One of the main reasons that people love to travel is because it presents you with an abundance of opportunities to try something new and learn how other people live their lives. Beauty products and treatments are seemingly a universal concept, but they often look very different in various parts of the world.

Depending on where you are traveling, you may be able to indulge in a new-to-you beauty custom or tradition! This is a fantastic way to treat yourself to some downtime, while also incorporating a different part of local culture into your itinerary.

5.  Learn each time you travel.

Knowing what to pack and finding the specific beauty hacks that will make your life easier takes time and is only going to get more obvious and straightforward the more that you travel. If you often have trouble overpacking beauty products, next time you leave home, commit to making a list of the products and tools you actually used while on vacation and then compare it to what you brought with you. The result may be shocking!

Just know that things take time, so learn a little bit more about yourself and your beauty needs while traveling throughout each future trip.
